Balcones Heights is located mid-way between the South Texas Medical Center and downtown San Antonio, at the intersection of I-10 and Loop 410. It is home to the annual Balcones Heights Jazz Festival, Dave & Buster’s, Wonderland of the Americas Mall, and Bijou Cinema Cafe.
The Balcones Heights Jazz Festival draws crowds of over 4,000 people from all over Texas. This year, thanks to iHeartRadio, I had the opportunity to celebrate 25 years of Jazzfest with other San Antonians and what a wonderful time it was! I also had the opportunity to meet the two acts of the night, Cynthia Bradley and Eric Darius. Cynthia hails from Buffalo, NY and Eric Darius currently resides in California.
The night was young and the people were ready to hear the soulful sounds of Jazz. Cynthia Bradley kicked off the night with her signature pink trumpet. The crowd took it in; from the very young teenagers to the adults with drinks in hand. Dusk started to settle and the main event, Eric Darius, was ready to set the stage on fire!
Experienced with performing with the likes of Prince, Jamie Foxx and Mary J. Blige, Eric hit the stage and got the crowd hyped! The moon was shining on the fountain, the stage was lit, fans were rocking, and Mr. Darius was killing on the saxophone! If you are looking for something a little bit different and love the sounds of jazz, this FREE event happens annually, so come out and join us next year at the Balcones Heights Jazz Festival!
