I’m usually the type of local who prefers to avoid downtown when there are big events because of the crowds and parking constraints, but when my little one and I found ourselves without plans for Easter we decided to try something different. I found out the city was hosting an Easter event at the Tower of the Americas. Children’s events are hosted there frequently, but we had never been so we decided to check it out.
Most places were charging $30 to $35 for parking, but we found parking at the BB&T on St. Mary’s for $20. I had seen some crazy posts on Facebook about outrageous parking fees so $20 felt like a steal. In addition to it being Easter, San Antonio was hosting the Final Four, but the crowd wasn’t as overwhelming as I expected. The San Antonio Police Department was out in full force which made me feel safe. I was really impressed with how the city managed traffic.
The weather could not have been better although I couldn’t imagine how the tourists from Michigan and Kansas felt. The event was free and included face painting, egg hunts, bubble blowing, a moon bounce, petting zoo, and egg dying. The Tower of the Americas is located just over from the playground at Hemisfair Park if kids need to burn off more energy when you’re in that area.
It was a great day. Most importantly, the organizers did a fantastic job providing activities for all age groups. My daughter had a great time and enjoyed all of the activities.
